I am passionate about advocating and helping young children and the adults in their lives.

 

I want to be able to help as many communities as possible and this is why I started my coaching and consulting business, Rooted & Thriving, LLC. This business allows me the opportunity to help the whole world not just the small amount of families I work with through my psychotherapy practice Oasis of Healing Psychotherapy, LLC.

 

My passion stems from many reasons and factors, and one of them is because I wish my 3 year old self ('Little Alissa') had had me in Little Alissa's life back then. I wish my parents, family friends, community members--really just all the adults 'Little Alissa' had come in contact with--knew about, and had been trained in, the parenting skills that I now know and teach others about!

I often think and ponder with the parents, teachers, daycare providers, etc that I work with now, how things would be different in our lives now had we learned to use positive self-talk, had a healthy self-esteem and self-concept, and felt confident in our ability to try and master new things when we were a child?

 

I know for certain that MY mental health now, especially my anxiety and negative self-talk, would be LESS had these positive qualities in Little Alissa been nurtured back then. 

 

Not to mention how the adults around Little Alissa, especially my parents, would have themselves had improved self-confidence and confidence in their parenting abilities, had they learned the skills I am teaching now!
